Project Light Bulb
Project Project Light Bulb is the main programme for the Engage Stream. It is a leadership arts programme for young people based on collaborative partnership best practice models in the UK and USA. Its partnership planning, programming, management and evaluation processes have been trialled in six Auckland schools since 2007.
This arts residency programme is led by professional arts practitioners who will work with students and teachers for one to two terms within the school environment. Each project will be a collaboration among the artists, students, teachers and senior management to produce high quality learning results. The workshops may be used as part of the school curriculum or in line with a school’s theatre production.
An official programme under Project Light Bulb is the Cloaks Project, a one term programme where students and teachers develop and design their own cloak that represent their turangawaewae – their sense of belonging. This journey of self discovery and expression of intellect, traditions and culture will culminate in a live event where the children from the different schools will parade their finished cloaks among family and peers.
Project Light Bulb is project managed by Markham Arts. For inquiries and expressions of interest to participate in the residency programmes, email sallymarkham@xtra.co.nz
