Pou Kapua or Cloud Pillar stands a stunning 21 metres in height on the site of TelstraClear Pacific and is truly inclusive of indigenous peoples of the world.  Having taken 30 carvers from around the world and 3 years to complete, this national treasure tells the creation myths of indigenous peoples from Alaska, Easter Island and Aotearoa and includes the stories of Kupe, Rangi and Papa and Tangaroa making it an ideal tool in the teaching of Mythology.  Students will be inspired by the sheer height and detail in the carving that bring the creation myths to life.

Students will explore Maori Myths - The Creation and Maui through 3 short sessions of Drama, Contemporary Dance, Kapa Haka or Pacific Dance.  The workshop will culminate with a wrap-up on stage.  Tools gained from each session can be used alongside the comprehensive Teacher Resource to explore other stories back in the classroom.
