Solan Chan

Solan pursues her own innovations in contemporary pottery and explores the invisible hands played in the firing of the kilns. Her works burned the vibrant colours of New Zealand with the traces of the Chinese romance from the ages afar.
After a long march home from her retrospective shows in Asia, Solan had her sole exhibition ‘Solan’s Clay Road ’ at the Auckland War Memorial Museum in November 2003. The New Zealand Prime Minister, Rt. Hon. Helen Clark officiated at the opening ceremony and in her speech described The Rests series as “flying teapots with wings”.
